Field and Stream?

If you watch a game, it's fun.
If you play it, it's recreation.
If you work at it, it's golf.
Bob Hope

I'd have to agree with Bob Hope's assessment of golf. I have fun watching it. But it's too much work to actually do it. Patience is not my virtue.

I guess Randy must look at golf as recreation. Since extra rain has kept him out of the field for the past week or so, he's been golfing more than normal. (We got another 0.25" overnight.) I tagged along one day last week when he golfed at Willowbend Golf Course in Wichita.

 Bob Hope:
A photographer kept shooting me every time I swung.
I was very flattered until I found out
he was from Field and Stream."

Randy had his own photographer, too, along with his necessary tools.
I had my own tools -- a book, a camera and a Diet Dr. Pepper.
Randy did a pretty good job of limiting any "field and stream" shots, though there were hazards along the way.

Willowbend was a pretty golf course on a beautifully cool morning.

At some locations, I thought it might be more aptly named Cottonwood Bend.
I wasn't the only spectator in the gallery that day. However, I think I was the only one paying attention to my favorite golfer. Let's just say that there was not total silence on the course with all the roofing crews working. It's a good thing it wasn't Phil and Tiger playing.
Bob Hope once said:

"If you think golf is relaxing, you're not playing it right."

But I think my amateur golfer had a pretty relaxing day.

So did I.

  1. I'm not much into golfing, but that is a pretty course. Love your quote about listen has the same words a silent. :)

    1. Thanks! Obviously, I'm not into it either, but my husband seems to be. Have a great weekend!
